How the LeapPad helped safely educate women in Afghanistan

In the year 2004, 80% of Afghan women were non-literate. To help combat this issue, former U.S. Secretary of Health and Human Services, Tommy Thompson, approached Jim and his team at LeapFrog. They were tasked with creating custom Dari and Pashto LeapPads that would be used to educate women in Afghanistan. Jim and his team created and shipped 20,000 custom LeapPads to health clinics in Afghanistan, where women could use them safely. Their creation taught Afghan women and mothers about sanitation, nutrition, depression, disease, immunization, and pregnancy.
